The Voice of Angels

What is the ultimate goal in receiving the Holy Ghost?  In my previous post we discussed scriptures that outlined the process for receiving the Baptism of Fire and the reception of the Holy Ghost.  Today, as I sat pondering over these events (as I have every day for the past three years), the Spirit of God has directed me to provide the ultimate conclusion for those willing to accept these events, receive them and follow the direction of the Holy Ghost.

We will continue with the counsel of Nephi to his brothers:

And now, behold, my beloved brethren, I suppose that ye ponder somewhat in your hearts concerning that which ye should do after ye have entered in by the way.  (2 Nephi 32:1)

Do you remember the “way”?  It is repentance, baptism by water then Baptism by Fire; (2 Nephi 31:17-18).

Do ye not remember that I said unto you that after ye had received the Holy Ghost ye could speak with the tongue of angels? And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels save it were by the Holy Ghost? (2 Nephi 32:2)

Isn't this amazing!  Ordinary people who have received the Holy Ghost speak with the tongue of angels.  What is the significance of this?  What meaning does this have to you?  What obligation do we have to become like this? Will the tongue of angels lead you astray?  How will you recognize someone who speaks by this power?  Remember, the reception of the Holy Ghost is contingent upon certain factors.  If you are not familiar with these conditions, please read my previous post so this post will be taken in context.

Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do. (2 Nephi 32:3)

For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.  Behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and there will be no more doctrine given until after he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh. (2 Nephi 32:5-6)

Appear to you in the flesh?? Do you understand what you are being asked to do?!  Here it is:  Repent, be baptized by water, be baptized by Fire and receive the Holy Ghost, feast upon the words of Christ and do what you are shown by the Holy Ghost until Jesus Christ shall manifest Himself to you in the flesh.  Yes, that is exactly how you are to be redeemed.  This is the pattern given to our Father Adam.  It redeemed him from the fall and it will redeem you too.  This is taught very plainly in LDS temples.  We are to literally enter into His presence in this mortal life.

What happens to you after you receive Jesus Christ in the flesh?  And when he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh, the things which he shall say unto you shall ye observe to do.  (2 Nephi 32:6)  Further Light and Knowledge will be given you and, perhaps, direction to help others gain their salvation.

After Nephi gave this process to his brothers, he lamented over those who will not receive his counsel:

And now I, Nephi, cannot say more; the Spirit stoppeth mine utterance, and I am left to mourn because of the unbelief, and the wickedness, and the ignorance, and the stiffneckedness of men; for they will not search knowledge, nor understand great knowledge, when it is given unto them in plainness, even as plain as word can be. (2 Nephi 32:7)

This is the message of the Restoration as given to Joseph Smith the Prophet, that we must press forward and have our calling and elections made sure; that we are to receive the Second Comforter, Jesus Christ.  Salvation does not come from men, nor will it ever.  It comes by feasting upon His Words from angels and the Holy Ghost.  Then we receive Christ Himself. Since this doctrine is no longer taught by those who should know better, I wonder if they have become as salt that has lost its savor. Judge for yourself if this is not the doctrine of Christ.  I testify that it is.

  1. Thank you again, Sean! AMEN!! This post makes me feel to adopt the words of Nephi: "I glory in plainness; I glory in truth; I glory in MY Jesus, for he hath redeemed my soul from hell."

I have had it in my mind and heart that this exact doctrine is what I will be teaching to my elders quorum this Sunday, Nov 2nd. I was just put into the elders quorum presidency and this will be the first time i teach in that capacity. I only accepted this calling for this reason; to teach truth from scripture. I truly hope it is received well. If it isn't then let the consequences follow as they may. I hope and pray some will hear the Lord's voice and wake up to the awful state we find ourselves in. Your first post and this one will serve as a wonderful guide. Thank you, brother!

  2. Precise and to the point, good job; that is it indeed, is it not, to begin the path toward Christ. Alma gives a warring for us today;Alma 12: (speaking to Zeezrom) whom we should all reflect upon, and consider, it is I Lord.

9 And now Alma began to expound these things unto him, saying: It is given unto many to know the mysteries of God; nevertheless they are laid under a strict command that they shall not impart only according to the portion of his word which he doth grant unto the children of men, according to the heed and diligence which they give unto him.
10 And therefore, he that will harden his heart, the same receiveth the lesser portion of the word; and he that will not harden his heart, to him is given the greater portion of the word, until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God until he know them in full.
11 And they that will harden their hearts, to them is given the lesser portion of the word until they know nothing concerning his mysteries; and then they are taken captive by the devil, and led by his will down to destruction. Now this is what is meant by the chains of hell.
